LO2: Explain the different lighting settings that may be used to record footage.

There are many lightings that can be used in recording footage, be that film or photography. Such as;
Key Lighting, Fill Lighting, Back Lighting, Side Lighting, Practical Light, Hard Lighting, Soft Lighting, Bounce Lighting, High Key, Low Key, Motivated Lighting, Ambient Lighting. All of these lightings are useful depending on what is being shot, all of them will be taken into account before production as lighting has an affect on things such as atmosphere, emotion, meaning and so on. All of these lightings have a specific purpose.

 Key lighting is the strongest visible light in the photo or video, fill lighting is used to removed dark areas that key lighting creates. Backlighting is used to created a 3D scene and also used in a three point lighting setup. Side lighting is lighting from the side. Practical lighting is light produced from regular sources such as lamps, TVs, candles etc. Bounce lighting is used to bounce lighting to create a stonier light source to the main focal point in a scene or photograph.

Soft lighting is used to create a soft image, making the image or video light subtle, this also means that the scene or image won't be accompanied with any shadows. Hard lighting is either sunlight or a strong light for cinematic use as it is powerful. High key lighting is used to created a bright scene just before it becomes overexpose. Low key lighting is used to create a main focal point more eye catching with lighting only being applied to that one thing in the scene, also creating shadows. Motivated lighting is used to create a natural looking light source with equipment. Ambient lighting is used to make a scene look similar to how we would see it in real life.
